Road Rally

The Rally was held on Sunday, October 19th, 2008

We would like to thank all participants and car show patrons

The results have been tabulated and shown below.

We are very happy that we raised just short of $1000 for the non-profits who benefit from our rally.

Our rally is meant to be an affordable, educational and enjoyable event. All proceeds are donated to non-profit organizations that benefit our local community. In 2008, proceeds were split between the West Kennebunk Animal Shelter and the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust. We would like to thank all of those who have made our 2008 rally a complete success. Eric and Kim VanSickle at Leyland English Auto prepared the starting point and helped in planning, advertising and logistics. The Casco Bay Group at Smith Barney underwrote the costs of the event and planned the rally course. Tom Bradbury served as our local historian to discuss the stop points along the course, and the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust which donated the space for our Finish Reception. And The Winner Is

Scores were tabulated giving an equal weighting to both the time/distance component of the rally, and the question & answer portion. Competitors were penalized positive points for the amount of time or distance they were off from our measured master route list. We then subtracted the aggregate score of their total from the Q&A portion of the rally. A very low (negative) score means that the team had very little variation in both time and distance from our calculated master chart, which led to a low positive score, and they had a high score on the Q&A component, which was then subtracted from their first score. The best score possible was -360.

Cars of the 50s and 60s

Someone did an awesome job putting this together and with sound to boot. At the very end of the video you'll hear the song ' Thunder Road ' sung by the star of the movie for which it was the theme! Not uncommon except this is the one and only song ever recorded, for publication, sung by Robert Mitchum !
